The drama is the anxiety of a first kiss, not the logistics of a wedding. By decentering the traditional milestones, queer romance has reminded the industry that the most romantic thing two people can do is see each other clearly. We must address the elephant in the room: the "Happily Ever After" (HEA) is no longer mandatory.
