Captain America, also known as Steve Rogers, was created by writer-artist Joe Simon and artist Jack Kirby and first appeared in Captain America Comics #1 in March 1941. The character was born during World War II, and his original story revolved around his transformation from a weak and scrawny young man into a powerful super-soldier. With his newfound abilities, Steve Rogers became Captain America, a patriotic superhero tasked with fighting against the forces of evil, particularly the villainous Red Skull.
