Since the advent of the talkie era, playback has played a big role in Bengali cinema. From Kanan Devi’s Ami banaphool go to Arati Mukhopadhyay’s Ami Miss Calutta  our films have a song for every emotion. In this segment, BFA tunes in to the music composers, singers and lyricists who made all that happen. The bonus is a chance to listen to the BFA-curated list of hits across seven decades!

Unlike ANSI 70, RAL 7035 is a with no beige or brown undertones. It is pure gray.

When specifying enclosures, IT racks, laboratory furniture, or medical devices, the finish is rarely the first thing on an engineer’s mind. Yet, choosing the wrong color or texture can lead to practical nightmares: visible scratches, heat absorption, poor cleanability, or even client rejection based on aesthetic mismatch.

Two standards dominate the industrial world: (often referring to the light beige/gray defined by ANSI/SBSI standards) and RAL 7035 (Light Grey). At first glance, they look similar. But "better" depends entirely on your environment, lighting, and functional needs.

If your product is sold in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, or South America, spec RAL 7035. RAL is an international color lexicon. ANSI is not. A powder coater in Vietnam knows RAL 7035. They may have never heard of ANSI 70. Better for international manufacturing.

Let’s break down the differences, pros, cons, and ultimate verdict for each. What is ANSI 70? In the context of industrial finishes, "ANSI 70" refers to the color standard defined by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in conjunction with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) or specific equipment standards like ANSI/SBSI 100 for office furniture. More commonly, it appears in ANSI/NEMA standards for enclosures (e.g., NEMA 250).

ANSI 70 is not a single, rigid formula but a family of . Traditional ANSI 61 (Gray) and ANSI 49 (Off-white) were precursors. ANSI 70 sits between them—a warm, slightly creamy light gray with beige undertones.

The iconic Paradise Cinema has been a cherished part of Kolkata's cine history. Nirmal De’s Sare Chuattor marked its first Bengali screening in 1953, amidst a legacy primarily dedicated to Hindi films. From the triple-layered curtains covering its single screen to the chilled air from the running ACs wafting through its doors during intervals, each detail of Paradise’s majestic allure is still ingrained in the fond memories of its patrons. But how many know where Ajoy Kar, Asit Sen, Arundhati Devi or Ritwik Ghatak lived? Or for that matter, Prithviraj Kapoor or KL Saigal during their Kolkata years? In case you are among those who walk past iconic addresses without a clue about their famous residents, this section is a must-watch for you. We have painstakingly tried to locate residential addresses of icons from the early days of their career and time-travelled to 2022 to see how the houses are maintained now.
